Fruits for diabetics may be a matter for questioning with doubts because of the presence of sweet contents in fruits. It is a wrong notion with many of the diabetics and non-diabetics that sweetness in any form should not be taken at all. As a matter of fact when there is a bad need for increased calories for energy, certain fruits are needed as the best compensating food. More of it lies in the fact that many fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber content along with phytochemicals to maintain normal blood sugar level. If at all it is taken in juice form you need to grind with the nuts and skin adding no extra sugar for taste. It should be noted that the fruits alone cannot serve for controlling blood sugar. It should not be taken all alone as snack but to be supplemented with vegetables of fiber content rather than carbohydrate.

 Apple: Apple is rich in vitamin B1 which helps in protecting the brain cells. The pectin component in the rind and pulp acts as a detoxifying agent of the body in removing the waste deposits in the bloodstream.

Red grape: Red grape, a citrus variety with refreshing flavor and taste, is good to lower blood sugar than any other fruit. In nutrition theory, it is emphasized that a handful or a small bunch once taken cannot be sufficient to lower sugar level. Consumption of grape fruit at least twice a day for two to three months gives good results in reducing blood glucose levels.  

Guava and pomegranate:These two fruits are cheap and best with exactly a needed level of glucose content. The fleshy part is with fiber content which is mostly a good diabetic low carb diet.

Fruits to avoid:

Fruits like sweet bananas, black grapes, custard apple, dates, pineapple and mango are not recommended for diabetics. Also any fruit, even with low glycemic index, softly squeezed to juice and added with sugar is of no use because it is one of the diabetes bad foods to be avoided.

So, it is best suggested to have fruits for diabetes also to bid a good bye to blood sugar and promote health instead of keeping them off totally and counting the days with all related problems due to increased blood sugar.
